IN SEARCH OF THE AMERICAN DREAM

Each year more than a million new immigrants arrive in this country. We come from all corners of the world; almost one half from Latin America. We come in search of better opportunities, a more hopeful future and a higher standard of living for our families.

We reach our new country with the expectation that if we work hard and make a positive contribution, in the end we’ll be victorious. What that victory entails is not always clear. More than something concrete, we’re often in search of an ideal that we simply refer to as the “American Dream”. Many people, however, fall far short of what they expected to achieve. Why is it that so many immigrants do not accomplish the goals they set out to achieve in spite of their hard work and desire to succeed?

Contrary to popular belief, the most difficult challenge Latinos face in achieving their objectives is not the language barrier, discrimination, legal status, or cultural differences. The real reason so many people fail is their lack of a concrete, step-by-step plan of action that clearly outlines how to turn our dreams into realities. In this seminar, Dr. Cruz shares a strategy based on the following five premises:

  1. Accept 100% of the responsibility for your success. Our success, whether it is professional, personal, financial, or in any other area is above all our own responsibility. Success is not the result of external factors but of personal decisions.

  2. Develop a clear vision of your goals. Blurry goals produce blurry results. Much of the disappointment or frustration that we face is due to a lack of a clear success plan that outlines our goals and plans.

  3. Act your role and become a student of success. We must live in accordance with success principles. We cannot break every rule of success and expect to succeed.

  4. Commit fully to your success plan. Succeeding and having a healthier, happier and plentiful life requires developing a special commitment to a new set of habits. This seminar will give the audience some insights into how to develop those winning habits.

  5. Take action! Albert Einstein used to say, “Before anything happens you’ve got to do something.” It sounds simple, but most of us are waiting for things to happen without taking any action.

Skills imparted include:

• Eliminate the biggest natural-born enemies of action
• Turn goals into plans and plans into concrete actions
• Learn the habits that create success stories
• Get motivated and stay motivated day after day
• Become a Possibility Thinker
• Put passion and commitment back into your work
