CRISIS: True or Cow?
Recently I was asked on a radio show, what I thought about the economic crisis. “Fantastic!” I replied to the astonishment of the interviewer. And I meant it. Here is why.
Webster Dictionary defines the word “Crisis” as a crucial or decisive point or situation; an emotionally significant event or radical change of status in a person's life; a juncture. In fact, in one of its best definitions it states that it is a turning point toward either improvement or deterioration.

Popular Wisdom or Plain Excuses?
When shared by many and repeated often enough, excuses tend to become part of what is normally accepted as popular wisdom. With time, they’re molded and transformed into clever and seemingly profound aphorisms that are assumed to be true and are adopted as infallible formulas for success. However, in reality, many of these sayings are nothing more than erroneous ideas that keep us right in the middle of our comfort zone, unable to move forward in life.

Leadership 101

At a recent seminar, I commented on what I consider
to be one of the great failures of our corporate
world. Companies have produced a great number
of managers, but very few leaders. Many of these
companies are now paying the price for that mistake.
Lack of long-term vision, total absence of accountability,
unethical behavior and betrayal of public trust
are just some of the symptoms of this absence
of true leadership. The failure to develop leadership
hasn’t been limited to the corporate arena.
These same shortcomings have been observed in
government, sports, politics, the church and many
other areas where the need for vision, values
and character is paramount.

It’s Impossible to Learn a New Language After 40

Often,
excuses come disguised as popular wisdom. Every
culture has a set of oft-repeated sayings that
provide off-the-cuff responses for almost any
type of misfortune. We accept these ‘bits
of wisdom’ as inherent truths because after
all, “If everyone is saying it….”
Unfortunately, the sayings nearest
and dearest to us, those passed on through generations,
have also culturally conditioned us to accept
mediocrity as the norm.
